Small Business Saturday 11.29.14

This upcoming Saturday is Small Business Saturday!  While Small Business Saturday is a fake shopping holiday that was created by American Express in 2010 (ironically the only credit card that we don't accept) the premise behind it is great! Spending your money at small business is super important, it's estimated that 68% of money spent at small business goes right back into the community (the other 32% goes to feed my cat Ms. Peel).  Also, wow the store has been open for just over two years, way cool!

Whats on Sale?

For the first, and probably only time ever, all of our fine vintage clothing and footwear will be 20% off, pick up some great duds or a sweet pair of boots!  All boxed vintage video games will be 20% and all $5 games will be buy two get 1 free, there will be tons of $1 stuff out too.  All Records will be buy 2 get 1 free, all of our Polaroid camera's will be 20% off and there will be other stuff on sale too, ohhh yeah.  Thanks everybody for another awesome year!

11.7 High Energy Vintage: After Hours III

Coming up this Friday 11.7 is another round of High Energy Vintage Hours at River Gods in Cambridge.  For four solid hours myself (Wiley) and Marathon Edits will bring you a sampling of the finest tunes to ever have been pressed into vinyl.  It all starts at 8pm goes until 1am, and is free, free, free.  RSVP on the Facebot for more info!

Thursday 10.30 Disasterpiece Theatre XV:Cryptz

Disasterpiece is back!  Join us at Starlab on Thursday 10.30 at 8:30 pm for what is sure to be the worst Disasterpiece yet. Disasterpiece Theatre is a continuing series of seriously bad films, exclusively shown on VHS.  Due to popular demand Disasterpiece has moved to Starlab in Union Square Somerville, admission is always free, but donations to Starlab are always appreciated.  Space is limited, so please do RSVP on Facebook, or via email.

10.17.14 High Energy Vintage After Hours at River Gods

Hey friends and vinyl fans, stop by River Gods  in Cambridge this Friday for the second round of HEV After Hours.  Myself (Wiley) and Mikey also from HEV, will be spinning some great records from 9pm to 1am. 8.29.14 Disasterpiece Theatre XIV: Computer Beach Party

Where to start... we were supposed to do Computer Beach party a few months back, but ran into some problems locating the actual VHS tape.  We are going to give it another try on Friday August 29th.
 
   This Disasterpiece Theatre presentation will not be at High Energy, we will be using the Starlab Studios live room for this screening! Starlab is located at 453 Somerville Ave. Somerville MA (that's across from the Market basket).  The show starts at 9pm, beach and/or computer attire is REQUIRED!

8.18 High Energy Vintage After Hours at River Gods

On Monday 8.18 please join the HEV crew for a fun night out at River Gods in Cambridge.  There will be three great DJ's there spinning some great vintage tunes, expect lots of Italo-Disco, Disco and New wave!

There is no cover, music will start around 8pm and go until 12am.

We are super excited to have WMBR DJ MaGoGo on the lineup, if you are not familiar with The Show Show with MaGoGo, definitely tune into WMBR this Saturday at 8pm or go to the WMBR website to tune in.

Next on the lineup is Marathon Edits, who has previously DJ'd at HEV!  Now back from The Orient  for your partying pleasure, check out his stuff on Soundcloud.

Last but not least is me, Wiley!  I'll be out there playing you all vinyl, mostly Italo-Disco from my 12" collection.

Saturday 7.19 Starlabfest! Also an hours update!

Starlabfest V

Wooo hoo! It's July and that means another dose of Somerville rock festival Starlabfest.  This year is going to be so awesome, that it cannot be contained in one location!  The bands will all be playing at the old Starlab location at 32 Prospect St. and all the film, comedy and arts events will be at the new Starlab at 452 Somerville Ave (that's across from the Market Basket yo).  If you want to know what Starlabfest is, read this interview with one its founds, Matt Price!

We will have some great record vendors setup at the new Starlab from 10-4.  The bands start around 2 at 32 Prospect where we have a bunch of great vintage vendors (including ourselves) lined up to setup!

Store Hours

Since the stores inception there has always been a bit of confusion about the hours. The store hours do not change from week to week, they always the same (except for when someone is late...)  Please keep in mind that the hours are on this website under the directions/contact tab, on our Facebook page, our Yelp page, our Foursquare page, the store answering machine, and even on the store door.  In June we added Tuesday to the list of days that we are open, making Monday the only day that we don't recommend making a trip to the store.  So what are the store hours you ask?  Tuesday-Saturday 12-8 and Sunday 12-6.  See you cats then!

Disasterpiece Theatre XIII: Rabid Grannies

Straight from Belgium, direct to video, Disasterpiece Theatre proudly presents Rabid Grannies. Cannibals? Rabies? We don't even know what to expect! Directed by nobody famous and staring people of similar clout, we are going into this one cold turkey. Based off of the title alone, Rabbid Grannies has been elected to be the most auspicious of Disasterpiece's, Disasterpiece 13.  The event starts at 8pm at the store, please RSVP on Facebook or email the store as space is limited.

Old School Game Show's "John-Hughes-A-Palooza"

Somerville's finest game show/alt-trivia/ performance night will wrap up a damn fine season this SATURDAY (surprise new day this month!) .  Come by The Somerville Theatre for a good time and great prizes. HEV will providing some prizes and great tunes all night.  Post-show there will be a very seriously silly 1980's prom with prizes going out to the best dressed, stop by HEV to pickup soe cool duds, be there!

Somerville Flea Kickoff

June 1st is nearly here, and that means The Flea is about to start.  Because all the cool kids are changing names (do you remember that DiscoVision place?)  Every Sunday from June 1st to October 31st the Somerville Flea runs from 10 AM to 4pm. Come on buy to 52 Holland St and find cool stuff.  We will be bringing all kinds of neat inventory and so much stuff that you wont find in the shop.

5.15 - 5.18 Vintage Video Game Sale

It happens once in a blue moon (or for the third time since the store has opened) but we are having a bit of a sale on our classic games.

From Thursday 5.15 to Sunday 5.18 all of our vintage games priced under $5- are buy 2 get one free.  This is going to be really great for any NES collectors out there as we will have close 1,000 NES games out for sale with around 300 titles to choose from.  All of our in box games will be 20% off, and the majority of our accessories (excluding controllers) will be 20% off as well.

After several months hiatus, it's the Thursday that you all have been waiting for, Disaterpiece XII!!!

High Energy Vintage proudly presents Computer Beach Party.

Written and directed by some guy named Gary, this movie is misguided from minute 1.  There are no redeeming qualities to this film, it's bad and it should never have been produced.  Expect no original plot elements, a dearth of character development, cinematic ineptness, and more!

As usual we will have beer, snacks, food etc, but you are also welcome to bring your own.

It's Disasterpiece co-conspirator Alex's birth-dizzle-day so perhaps expect cake too?

3.16 Davis Flea Spring Vintage Market

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!

Hey everybody this upcoming Sunday (3.16) the fine folks that run the Davis Flea will be putting on another most excellent event at Arts at the Armory in Somerville.  The Davis Flea Spring Vintage Market will run from 11am to 5pm. We will be bringing lots of neat cameras, and other funky stuff too that you might not see in the store.  There are going to be amazing vendors besides ourselves, and the Armory serves beer and stuff so it should be an all around good time. The store will be open it's normal 12-6 Sunday hours, so stop by there too!

Sweet Sweater Sale! 2.26 - 3.12

It's just about the end of February and it's still cold with so called "weathermen"  predicting super frigid temperatures throughout the week.  Even New Hampshire's own Al Kaprielian can't fight the six week prediction of more winter from Phil the groundhog of Punxsutawney Pennsylvania.   We here at High Energy are going to do the best we can to fight those cold temperatures by offering up a sale that will keep you warm an fuzzy, perhaps like a kitty cat that is with you at all times.  All of our our fine sweaters, like the ones that are made out of virgin Shetland wool, to the ones that are acrylic and have funky patterns are all 30% off.  That's not all, any other piece of outwear, warm scarves and even some of our excellent footwear will be marked down, just look for a blue slash on a price tag and save thirty cents on the dollar... boom!

Sunday 1.19.14 Davis Flea Winter Vintage Market

This coming Sunday the 19th High Energy will be setup at the Davis Flea Winter Vintage Market at The Armory in Somerville.  We will be bringing out all sorts of stuff, including lots of neat stuff that you don't see in the store. There will be live music, a full array of adult beverages and food for sale, tons of great vendors... and its FREE!

High Energy will be open for normal Sunday hours (12-6).  The Davis Flea Winter Market will run from 11-5 on Sunday 1.19.14 at Arts At The Armory 191 Somerville Ave.  It's a short walk from Davis square, and a totally awesome venue, so don't be lazy, check it out!
